Howdy from the Forster’s
On behalf of the Forster family we would like to invite you to join us for our annual production sale. It is over 40 years now since my parents Larry and Sally started in the Registered Red Angus. By the way mom and dad are doing great and still keeping busy. My children slowly keep getting older and leaving the nest. Zane graduated from college and is now working in the oil field. Seth is in college and Kaitlyn started her first year. That leaves Libby and I at home. We are getting to know each other better. Haha

It has been another trying summer for us. It has been very dry and windy. We are quite short on winter feed and will be happy to make it until fall. Thank God that the weeds grew for something to eat.

The National Weather Forecasters said it was the driest six months going into spring that they have ever recorded.

The bulls in this years offering are looking great. We have a new line up of fresh outcross genetics that will work for anyone. We think you will be quite pleased. The Herd sires are at the top of the breed for there genetic potential, not to mention over 40 years of strict culling in our cow herd. We breed for 45 days in August until mid September. This is when we are the hottest and driest.
We start calving in May out on the range. We check them a couple times a day to tag and weigh. Our calving problems are almost non existent. We just don’t help any of them. We wean in the fall and put the bulls and heifers on a 100% roughage diet.

This enables us to select for easy doing and high feed conversion rate beef cattle. This should enable our customers to select for easy doing cattle which is going to enable all of us to stay in the beef business. If they do well on roughage I am sure they will excel on grain rations for those of you who like to background or and take them to finished weight.
Feed cost is the major cost of raising beef. We have to make them more efficient to stay in business.

In the spring we run the bulls back on grass and over the summer until close to sale time. If we are short on grass like this years drought we will have to supplement them shortly before the sale.

We are very happy with this years offering, and if there is any way we can assist you in your bull purchases please let us know and we will be glad to help you.
“Our Cattle are a part of who we are, not just what we do.”
Thank You!
